yawn

ned and i went out last night!  this is noteworthy!  we went to a concert that didn’t start until 9.  we are crazy, wild people. our friend jami came with us and josephine hung out with jami’s partner ann and their daughter dylan.  josephine and dylan are members of a mutual admiration society and they were both very excited about their evening together. i’ve never seen josephine get herself ready to leave our house to go somewhere so quickly.

we went to see josh ritter.  you can listen to a few songs at his tiny desk concert, but this concert was not that quiet and tame. the music started out mellow and then grew to a body-thumping loudness that felt really good to this very infrequent concert goer. our ears were ringing when we emerged into the dark at midnight. and then our jaws dropped when we walked into ann and jami’s house to find josephine STILL AWAKE.  poor dear. she and ann had both tried so hard to get her to sleep but to no avail. she was very overtired and weepy when she saw us.  as i was buckling her into the car seat, she said tearfully, “i thought it would be so easy for me and it was not at all!” once we had gotten her home and fed her a literal midnight snack, it was 1am before we were all in bed. and so we were so so pleased and thrilled and joyful when she walked into our room at 7 this morning and began to whine loudly about all the injustices in her life. because ned is a very good husband, he got up with her and let me sleep in.

early bedtimes for all of us tonight!  hope your weekend was as rockin’ as ours.* (get it? ha.)

*just to up the rockin’ quotient, i’ll let you know that our weekend also included a birthday fairy tea party for a young friend that involved lots and lots of glitter.

Oh my. Our Saturday night was similar in late night/early bedtimes. We are still paying the price for picking daddy up at the airport. Sigh. Hope all recover soon.
