to the moon!

josephine’s class (along with some super-wonderful parents who volunteered to chaperone, ahem) went on a field trip today to the science center.  the main destination was the planetarium for a showing of “to the moon,” which was appropriate as they’ve been studying the solar system at school. sadly, the planetarium show was the low-point of the trip. it was pretty pathetic. and was dwarfed in fun-quotient by riding the bus, playing on a stage in the shadow of the space needle, lots of sunshine (!) and time at the science center.

we got home and she went to work creating a spaceship under the table. her astronaut helmet consisted of the seat from her doll stroller strapped around her head with a headband and the same surgical hairnet that was protection against plumbing mishaps a few posts back.

overheard under the table:

“dada! since you can’t have an eye mask, you can have a handcuff.”

“a lever for you to pull, a lever for me to pull. 3, 2, 1 blastoff!”

thanks, planets and the moon, for providing such rich inspiration!
